That no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another

Al Najam 32 – 40

One of the unbelievers entered Islam. His friend asked him: “Why did you enter in the religion of Mohammed?” He said: “I have so many sins that I want to get ready of.

His friend is trying to make him return from Islam, so he made him an offer. He told him: “What you say If I take all you sins and I give you money on top of that?” The new Muslim accepted this offer and returned to be unbeliever again.

Allah (swt) revealed the following ayat:

(33) Have you seen the one who turned away

(34) And gave a little and [then] refrained?

(35) Does he have knowledge of the unseen, so he sees?

(36) Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses

(37) And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] –

(38) That no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another

(39) And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives

(40) And that his effort is going to be see
