Most of Quraish big heads didn’t enter Islam, even thought that many of them were relatives of the Prophet Mohammed (pbuh).
One day the Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) went out to his relatives of Quraish tribe. The Prophet (pbuh) asked them if they refused to follow him and enter Islam, then they should at least keep their relationship with the Prophet (pbuh) as they are his relatives.
Also the prophet Mohammed asked them not to let other Arabs to have this relationship level with him instead of his relatives from Quraish. He said to them that he asks them no reward or anything for this only to keep their relationship as relatives.
Then Allah (swt) revealed the following Aya:
قُل لَّا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا إِلَّا الْمَوَدَّةَ فِي الْقُرْبَىٰ
Say, [O Muhammad], “I do not ask you for this message any payment [but] only good will through kinship.”
They didn’t keep this relationship between them, in fact, his uncle was one of the ones who caused hurts to the Prophet (pbuh).
Another Version Of This Story
The Ansar in Madian offered the Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) money to support him for what he was doing for the Umma. The Prophet replied to them that he asks them no reward only to keep the Qarrab (relationship based on relatives) between them.
