The Muslim women in Madina were reading Quran just like other men. They had feelings in their hearts, becuase most of the Ayat in Quran are mention the males, and many of the rewards in Quran are mentioned in the masculine form. Most of the Ayat in Quran are in the masculine form.
According to a group of commentators in the reason for the revelation of this Aya that when “Asma bint Amis” the wife of “Ja’far ibn Abi Talib” returned from Abyssinia with her husband, came to the wives of the Prophet, and asked them: “Is there something for us (women) in the Quran?” They said no. Then she came to the Messenger of Allah PBUH and said: “That women are in disappointment and loss”.
He said: What is that? She said: “They are not mentioned in goodness as the men in Quran”
Then Allah SWT reveled this Aya from Surat Al Ahzab:
(35) Indeed, the Muslim men and Muslim women, the believing men and believing women, the obedient men and obedient women, the truthful men and truthful women, the patient men and patient women, the humble men and humble women, the charitable men and charitable women, the fasting men and fasting women, the men who guard their private parts and the women who do so, and the men who remember Allah often and the women who do so – for them Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward.
