بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ الزَّقُّومِ (43) طَعَامُ الْأَثِيمِ (44) كَالْمُهْلِ يَغْلِي فِي الْبُطُونِ (45) كَغَلْيِ الْحَمِيمِ (46) خُذُوهُ فَاعْتِلُوهُ إِلَىٰ سَوَاءِ الْجَحِيمِ (47) ثُمَّ صُبُّوا فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْحَمِيمِ (48) ذُقْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْكَرِيمُ (49) إِنَّ هَٰذَا مَا كُنتُم بِهِ تَمْتَرُونَ (50)
Ab Jahal the uncle of Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) used to mock the Holy Quran when Allah (swt) reveals new Ayats.
The Tree Of Zakum
Allah (swt) revealed the Aya about the tree of zakum in the hell fire:
إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ الزَّقُّومِ (43) طَعَامُ الْأَثِيمِ (44)
The revelation of these 2 Ayas made Abu Jahal mocks and laughs on this type of torment for unbelievers in Hellfire. One day Abu Jahal was eating dates and butter with his friends, he said to them “Tazakamu” which means eat this “Zakum” as he was mocking the Aya and the torment of Allah in fire.
Then Allah (swt) revealed the following Aya:
إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ تَخْرُجُ فِي أَصْلِ الْجَحِيمِ (64)
