The Excel Martial Arts team has been teaching the students in the Ramadan Youth Program every weekend during Ramadan. Students have been getting stronger and learning self-defense skills. Masjid Isa Ibn Maryam wants to thank our brother and world champion Sensei El-Java Abdul- Qadir and his family (Srs. Sophary and Tahirah and Br. Ibrahim), for connecting with and training our students in an Islamic environment.
The Ramadan Youth Program was visited by Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh on May 3. The Mayor fasted that day in solidarity with Muslims for Ramadan. He also served as one of the judges for the Masjid Art Contest.
The students recited Quran, performed Islamic songs and participated in a Question and Answer session with the Mayor. He stayed and broke his fast with the students and also had Iftar. It was a great night of learning. Alhamdulilah.
